Ammar Saheli, Ed.D.

Dr. Ammar Saheli is passionate about education and its impact upon students and society. In part, his research interests include dynamics concerning equity in education, the racial achievement gap in K-12 public education, critical consciousness, and the impact of the Maafa on student performance.

In addition to working as the Director of Student Support Services in the San Lorenzo Unified School District, Dr. Saheli is the CEO of Saheli7 Educational Consulting, a privately owned operation designed to generate educational transformation for all students, especially those most impacted by the achievement gap. He was named and awarded by ACSA, the 2008-2009 Co-Administrator of the year for the State of California. Additionally, Dr. Saheli is the Minister of the West Oakland Church of Christ, and makes swift connections to church leadership conceptions with general leadership practices. As a trained psycho-therapist, Dr. Saheli understands and incorporates therapeutic approaches to the success of instruction, leadership, and management. He addresses the psycho-social and psycho-educational aspects of students and how they are manifested in and out of the classroom, in conjunction with how they are to be skillfully provided culturally responsive instruction and intervention.

Dr. Saheli received his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in Psychology, and holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling, with specializations in Marriage Family Therapy and School Counseling from San Francisco State University. He also received his doctorate in education, specializing in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco. He also holds his Pupil Personnel Services Credential and K-12 administrative credential.
