Susan Artis, Ed.D.

Susan Artis received her Doctorate of Education degree at the University of San Francisco in the Organization and Leadership Program with an emphasis in socio-cultural education and international development. As a bilingual educator, Dr. Artis contributes a depth of knowledge and experience in pedagogy and methodology in Bilingual/Multicultural Education.

Through many cross-cultural experiences in the Bay Area and abroad, Dr. Artis has a strong commitment to deepen her students’ cultural awareness and understanding as it relates to education policy, while preparing future teachers to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse student populations in California’s public schools.

Currently, Dr. Artis teaches in the Doctoral, Master’s and Teacher Preparation programs in the School of Education. Her interests include Curriculum and Instruction, Reading Literacy, Theories and Methods of Bilingual/Multicultural Education, Cultural Diversity and Research Methodology.
